The Sodium Reactor Experiment was the first reactor to generate electricity, while the Boiling Water Reactor experiments proved that the boiling water process could be used to generate electricity.

Those interested in learning about the city’s industrial history can also visit the Santa Susana Depot and Model Railroad Museum, which is a historic railroad station that still serves as a train station on the Southern Pacific Railroad. The museum features a variety of interactive displays that are sure to be enjoyed by all ages.
