Downtown Greenwood tells the story of the city’s ever-growing growth

Among the many buzz worthy projects in the city’s burgeoning ‘hood, one of the most impressive is the Red Line – a 35-mile bus rapid transit line that is expected to be completed in the near future. The line will cover five jurisdictions – Hamilton County, Carmel, Westfield, Franklin and Franklin Township. The project is also receiving federal planning funds. The line will be the first in the country to use fully electric vehicles.

The line will also feature the largest public plaza in central Indiana. The plaza is a nod to Greenwood’s rich past and its promise of a bright future. Moreover, the project has already secured the federal planning funds it needs to go from concept to reality. Touted as the best BRT line in the country, the line has the capacity to accommodate 2 million passenger trips per year.

Lake Greenwood State Park

Located in Greenwood, Indiana, Lake Greenwood State Park is a wonderful place to visit. It offers a variety of lake activities and a great location for vacationing.

The area is full of parks, playgrounds, tennis courts, and green space. There are three dog parks, as well. The park also has a basketball court, and a splash pad. There are also a number of trails. Those who like cross country skiing can enjoy the Tramway trail.

The lake is stocked with trout species. It is a popular destination for ice fishing in the winter. The area is also home to a large population of crappie.

The lake has boat ramps, but swimming is not permitted around the boat ramps. The River Fork Fishing Pier is a public pier near the River Fork Road Bridge.

Lake Greenwood State School

During the fall semester, Lake Greenwood is one of the best places in the Southeast to catch a big slab of crappie. The water is stained making it easier to find targets. The fish are storing fat for winter weather.

The biggest news is that there are now over 5,000 docks in the lake. This is made possible by a one-time fee that was added to the dock fees in July of 2023.

A new dock sign will be installed on all of the Lake’s docks. This sign will be brightly colored, which will help first responders in the event of an emergency. These signs will be funded by an additional transfer to the Lake Management Fund.

The Park’s main attractions include: hiking, swimming, camping, boating and fishing. The Park is open from 8:00 am – dusk, seven days a week.

Lake Greenwood Town Hall

Whether you want a weekend getaway or a full-time residence, Lake Greenwood has a little something for everyone. The lake has 212 miles of shoreline and a variety of recreational activities. The lake is one of the top vacation spots in South Carolina. It offers rentals, boating, and fishing opportunities. The lake is home to white perch, catfish, and white bass.

Street Department
