Centre College

Located in Danville, Kentucky, Centre College is a private liberal arts college. It is part of the Associated Colleges of the South. The college offers degrees in more than 35 majors. It has 25 NCAA Division III athletic teams and a large number of club sports. It also offers a variety of study abroad opportunities. The college has a campus of nearly 150 acres and is home to nearly 1,400 students.

The history of Centre College begins with the founding of the institution in 1819. It was originally chartered by the Kentucky General Assembly. It was named for its location within the “centre” of the Commonwealth. It was founded by members of the Presbyterian Church.

The first classes at the college were held in a building called Old Centre. It was a Greek Revival structure that was used as the administration building.
