Fremont Ohio Libraries
Located along the Sandusky River, Fremont Ohio is a city of just over 16,700 people. It is the county seat of Sandusky County, and is part of the Toledo metropolitan area.
Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center
Located in Fremont, Ohio, the Hayes Presidential Center promotes leadership and the Gilded Age. It is the site of the country’s first Presidential library and includes the former residence of the 19th president. It is managed by the Hayes Presidential Center, Inc., a nonprofit entity that receives the majority of its funding from the Rutherford B. Hayes-Lucy Webb Hayes Foundation.
Visitors to the museum can take a tour of the former home of the president and his family. The museum is also home to a research library that holds 70,000 volumes. The collection is focused on the history of Ohio and the Hayes family. The library also has public computers for genealogical research.
There are special events held at the museum throughout the year. These include an Easter egg roll and Victorian teas. The museum also offers docent-led tours for groups of 15 or more.
Visitors can view the museum’s collections of manuscripts and artifacts, including a reconstructed Hayes family parlour. The museum also has a large display of Hayes’ personal White House china.
Birchard Public Library
Founded in 1874, the Birchard Public Library in Fremont, Ohio is a historical institution. The mission of the library is to provide residents with a wide range of resources that are useful for informational and educational purposes. It offers an extensive collection of books and materials related to Sandusky County. The library also provides access to research databases on a variety of topics. Since its founding, the Birchard Public Library has undergone a number of changes. It has added staff and expanded its services. It opened branches in Gibsonburg and Woodville in 1936 and 1937.
In 1940, the Board of Trustees used its Permanent Endowment Fund to make an addition to the building. The addition was designed by the Buehrer Group, an architecture firm. The library also added a museum area.
In 1968, Hallie M. Grimes added a children’s room. She supervised the rapid growth of the library and made many renovations. She also added a bookmobile.
First Presbyterian Church
Located in the heart of downtown Fremont, the First Presbyterian Church has been a fixture in this Ohio city for over a century. Its sanctuary building has stood the test of time. In fact, its tower is a local landmark.
The First Presbyterian Church is a lively and vibrant Christian community. The church is located at 120 S Park Avenue. They also have a weekly newsletter called the First Church Messenger. The congregation has also been responsible for several noteworthy achievements. For instance, the Ballville Heights Presbyterian Sunday School has been sponsored by the congregation. Likewise, the ladies foreign missionary society was organized during home furlough in 1880.
The first building to house the worshipping congregation was a small frame structure built by Isaac Prior. Eventually, the church opted for a more suited location. The congregation had a building committee that decided to build a more elaborate building in the spring of 1844. The 45′ x 60′ building is still in use today.
Community colleges
Located in Fremont, Ohio, Terra State Community College is a public community college serving 2,603 students. This campus is located in the city of Fremont, a suburb of Toledo. This college offers a wide range of programs and courses, including associate and bachelor’s degrees. This institution is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Among the degree programs offered at Terra State, you can choose from an associate’s degree in business, accounting, psychology, engineering, and more. You can enroll in a variety of technical courses, such as digital media technology, graphics designing, and industrial electricity. You can also take a variety of foreign language classes.
Located in the heart of Fremont, Ohio, Terra State Community College has a campus that covers more than 100 acres. It has been in operation since 1968, when it first opened as the Vanguard Technical Institute. This school is a two-year public college. It offers several majors and certificates, such as computer systems, marketing, and manufacturing engineering. There are a number of sports available at the college. In addition, Terra State has an open admissions policy. It is also a GED certificate-accepting school.
