Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene

The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009, and officially opened on June 1, 2009. It is managed by the Texas Veterans Land Board and operated by the Texas General Land Office. The cemetery is spread over an area of 31 acres and can accommodate up to 35,000 burial plots. Prior to its expansion, there were only 3,000 plots available for burial.
