Pearland Texas Has Plenty to Offer

History

Located 37 miles north of Angleton, Texas, Pearland began its development as a siding switch for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad in 1882. As a result, many people settled in the area.

In the mid-1960s, Pearland had approximately 1,497 inhabitants. The area became an oil boom town during the 1930s, and oil field roughnecks and construction crews came to the area. As a result, Pearland grew rapidly in the following decades.

The first businesses in Pearland appeared around the intersection of Broadway and Main. They included five stores, a post office, two churches, and a school with 100 students. A public phone booth was also installed in 1917.

The Santa Fe Railroad Depot was a meeting place for Pearlanders, and each night the owner of the hotel, E.G. Miller, would walk to the station with a lantern. He would guide guests to the establishment.

With a population of over 18,000, Pearland is a growing town that’s bound to make its mark in the near future.

The requisite Pearland swag is aplenty, but the city’s thrift stores are also a good bet for a low-brow splurge. They may not have the fanciest of displays, but they will undoubtedly have something for everyone, including the little ones.

Mikki’s Soul Food Cafe is a family-owned restaurant. It opened in the town of Pearland last year. The cafe serves a variety of southern cuisine, such as fried catfish and turkey necks. It has a full bar, and customers can order online. They can also get food delivered.

The Bass Pro Shop aquarium has the largest aquarium in Pearland. It has an 11,500-gallon saltwater tank and displays different aquatic species. The area also has a variety of outdoor activities, such as kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fishing, and golfing.

The John Hargrove Environmental Complex is an 175 acre park that features a walking trail, biking trails and spectacular bird watching. It is a part of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

The Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium is an ideal place for fitness enthusiasts. With a Kidz Korner, a gymnasium and a swimming pool, it’s a great place to visit.
