Bear Creek Smokehouse

For 77 years, Bear Creek Smokehouse has specialized in Premium Smoked Meats. They believe in creating smoked meats without compromise, focusing on the “old-fashioned” way of hickory smoking.

Located on a 43,000-square-foot general store, the family-owned business is committed to bringing you quality cured pork, beef, and chicken products. The Shoults have been raising and curing their own meat since 1943.

Their salesroom presents a down-home country atmosphere, accentuated by the family’s next generation of traditional values. Stop by to grab a plate of brisket, a burger, or a sandwich made with Bear Creek’s delicious meats.

The Smokehouse also hosts events such as their annual Cookin’ at the Creek BBQ Cook-Off. The weekend includes live music, a barbecue competition, and a chance to feed longhorns.

Caddo Lake

Caddo Lake is a hugely popular tourist spot, and for good reason. It is a beautiful and natural lake that offers a vast variety of activities and attractions for all ages.

There are a number of things to do around the lake, from fishing to sightseeing boat tours to hiking trails. There is also a great variety of wildlife to see.

You can also visit Caddo Lake State Park, which was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. This park has a recreation hall and several cabins to rent.

If you’re looking to get out on the water, the best thing to do is to hire a tour guide to take you out on the lake. You can find a few different tour options, but our favorite was Captain Ron’s Swamp Tours. He takes you on a tour that lasts about 90 minutes and gives you a great view of the lake.
