Places to visit in Posey TX

Defendant Walter Posey was the Mayor of Lubbock, Texas from 1936 to 1941. He also served on the city council for 12 years. He was the former president of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Methodist Church and the board of stewards. He was involved in the construction of the Santa Fe Railroad through Lubbock, and was instrumental in the location of Mackenzie State Recreation Area.

Posey had his own cotton gin and two businesses. He also had a school. In 1908, he purchased a farm between Lubbock and Slaton. The house where he lived was the site of a railroad switch. The switch became a community name.

Posey allegedly retaliated against Plaintiff for bringing a lawsuit against him. He filed disciplinaries against Plaintiff, and he refused to respond to Plaintiff’s grievances. He argued that Plaintiff was insubordinate during his institutional search. He also argued that he was not entitled to qualified immunity.
